BIM in public sector and municipal housing construction
For construction projects undertaken for public sector clients, two ICT notifications help to form the framework for our construction activities for state and municipal housing. Here is how our working methods support public requirements.
§3 Throughout the construction project, the use of ICT must be coordinated between all parties involved
MT Højgaard has a central coordinating role in every construction project. Contact with and exchange of information between consultants and sub-contractors passes directly through the centre of MT Højgaard's construction management, and so it is natural to accumulate the information here.
We are the link between the planned model and reality, between sub-contractors and suppliers.
We can ensure coordination of the use of ICT between all parties throughout the entire process, providing a better process for all parties and ultimately a better product for the client.
We formulate a strategy for the use of BIM in all projects, and ensure agreement on all relevant matters associated with the use of BIM through an ICT agreement.
HANDLING OF DIGITAL BUILDING OBJECTS
§4 The building's BIM is used consistently throughout the construction process, and contains the properties and information that are relevant to subsequent management, operation and maintenance.
At MT Højgaard, we have good experience of using BIM in our projects. It gives us a better construction process and the opportunity to provide a BIM model to the operator for operation and maintenance.
DIGITAL COMMUNICATION AND PROJECT WEB
§5 During the construction, all relevant information is shared digitally between all relevant parties, so a timetable is needed to determine which information is available to who, and when, as well as a framework for this.
At MT Højgaard we now share project material and relevant information with parties involved in the construction throughout the process via our project web.
We continually develop our platform, so that it supports the need for sharing project material and information, and also supports the necessary rights management and workflow.
USAGE OF DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION MODELS
§6 The building's BIM is supplied in IFC format
Today we handle BIM models in IFC or original format, and can comply with client requests to supply BIM models in IFC format.
§7 BIM is used during planning and execution
MT Højgaard provides the right competences on all projects with BIM in order to ensure the relevant parties prepare the necessary 3D models.
We aim to coordinate between the different 3D models to ensure that collision errors are already corrected in the design phase, and not on the construction site.
DIGITAL TENDER AND BID
§8 Digital tendering is used for construction work bids
MT Højgaard operates digitally in connection with both tendering and bidding.
§9 If the tender specifies amounts, these amounts must be included on the bid lists.
MT Højgaard has the tools to progress work with a correct and quality-assured tender material and include it in the process.
DIGITAL DELIVERY OF THE HANDOVER OF THE BUILDING
§10 Documentation of the building's operation must be ensured, and operation and maintenance material must be included in the digital delivery to the client and the operator.
MT Højgaard focuses on the client's need to be able to use the BIM model for operation and maintenance, and we supply BIM models in IFC format to the client.
DIGITAL INFORMATION ON DEFECTS
§11 Digital defect lists which describe the defects in relation to the project's approved structure in the building's BIM must be used
MT Højgaard now handles defects digitally, so there is a relation between defects and technical drawings. We systematically collate data on defects and use our know-how to optimise our working methods.
