MT Højgaard has supplied the 90 foundations for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm. The farm is located about 17-23 km off Sheringham in northern Norfolk.
The wind turbines will be connected to two offshore substations via a network of cables.
Electricity for 220,000 households
Totally the wind turbines will produce an average of 315 MW and about 1.1 TWh of electricity will be transferred from the two offshore substations to land by export cables.
From here there will be a connection to the transmission network at Norwich. In the future the wind farm will supply 220,000 households in UK with electricity.
19 foundations
We have carried out the planning and preparation of the installation. We installed a total of 19 foundations ie 17 WTG foundations and two substation foundations.
During winter 2010-2011 it became obvious that it would not be possible to complete the installation with Svanen due to its subsequent commitment at another project. The client decided to hire their own alternative vessel and we will assist in the planning of the remaining work.
