ARKEN Museum for Modern Art

The large art museum in Ishøj, south of Copenhagen, was extented with a new entrance of 375 m², new sculture hall of 391 m² and new premises for educational services. The museum entrance was renovated by extension of the existing entrance so that the visitors can have an exiting arrival experience. A spacious bright foyer, which is designed by architect Søren Robert Lund, who was ARKEN's original architect will welcome the visitors.

In the new scultpture hall visitors will be able to enjoy the changing exhibitions in comfortable, bright and relaxing surroundings. The hall functions as a conference room for lectures, receptions and the like. Finally, the facilities for the museum's children and young people are improved with new and larger premises for ARKEN's educational services.

Public access and safety during Construction

Throughout the construction period public access had to be ensured with all the considerations of safety and functionality for staff and visitors. Various exhibitions took place during the construction period and all precautions for personnel safety, access and alarms had to be considered in the project.
