Bleiker School extension

1,380 square metres extension

Bleiker School in Asker municipality in Norway is being extended with a new two-storey building with a total floor area of 1,380 square metres. We are constructing the building for AFK eiendom FKF.

Power points at wheelchair height

The extension to Bleiker School is intended for pupils with special needs. The interior design of the building is thus focused on features that take the needs of this group into account, such as placing power points and other technical installations at wheelchair height. The new school extension is scheduled for completion in August 2013.

Consideration for the existing school

During the construction process, due consideration has been shown for the existing Bleiker School which is located next to the new building. We carried out the noise-creating work during the summer break in 2012, and by the end of the year we had closed the building so that the internal work could be carried out during the winter.

Good dialogue with end-users

The location of the construction site next to the existing school enables us to have constructive contact with the end-users of the new building. We also have regular dialogue with the head of the school and the caretaker so that they have the opportunity to provide input.

Ready for occupation in August 2013

Our work on the project started in May 2012 with the demolition of the existing building. The actual construction work commenced in August 2012, and the extension will be ready for use in August 2013. This is the second building project we have undertaken in Norway since we opened our office in Oslo in 2011.
