It takes overview, ability to handle pressure and a talent to motivate different professional competencies to work towards the same goal to lead large building projects. That is why the large companies in the construction and civil engineering industry often choose older, experienced senior project managers for the large projects. But in MT Højgaard Danmark we have an exception in the 32-year-old Jacob Røll Pilegaard.
Besides being a skilled engineer Jacob is a very hard-working young manager, and he is truly able to cooperate on the large building projects, says senior branch vice president Anders Borg Salling.
Together towards one common goal
Jacob has impressed as a project manager on large projects, so in 2020 the management decided to name him senior project manager on one of our largest projects: The execution of the new high school in Horsens. It is a 150 million kroner project with a tight schedule. But Jacob has shown that he is the right man for the job right away and created fast progress. On the construction site Jacob’s role is to lead over 100 professional competencies such as carpenters, painters, bricklayers, construction architect and engineers toward one common goal: A finished and successful building.
- I have worked with Jacob Røll Pilegaard on hospital-, housing- and school constructions. Besides being a skilled engineer Jacob is a very hard-working young manager, and he is truly able to cooperate on the large building projects. He never cuts corners, and he always gets acquainted with every detail on the projects. As a result, other employees can always come to him for support and overview, says senior branch vice president Anders Borg Salling.
Hard work in the Norwegian mountains and in Denmark
Talent is only a small part of Jacob’s success. The main reason is hard work and years of experience as a project manager for smaller teams on large construction and civil engineering projects.
- As a 23-year-old newly qualified civil engineer I was hired as site manager in Aarhus. But I moved to Norway not long after, where I worked as process manager on the expansion of the light rail in Bergen for the large Norwegian contractor Veidekke. After I became a father, my family and I moved back to Denmark, where I became project manager for NCC in Aarhus and later for Chr. Johansen in Tønder. In 2017 I started in MT Højgaard Danmark, says Jacob.
Here he started as a project manager on a datacentre and later a hospital in Esbjerg. He handled the responsibility perfectly. So, he was offered the possibility to become senior project manager in Horsens. What the future brings is hard to tell. But one thing is for sure: Jacob has the potential to build himself a long and impressive career in MT Højgaard Danmark.
