School integrated in the harbour
In a main contract we are conducting a 12,500 square metre large education building for the new maritime academy in Svendborg. The building will be placed directly at the harbour front in Svendborg which it will become an integrated part of. As a part of the school the quayside is designed as an outdoor laboratory where maritime research will be showcased.
Flexible building
The floorplan of the building is shaped like a cross creating four open squares with public access to the common facilities. Flexibility of the physical frames for the school is maximised with a module-based building. The construction allows changing the layout of workshops and classrooms without disturbing the bearing structure and logistic.
Educating the next generation
The new SIMAC is ready to educate the future leaders of The Blue Denmark and several innovative professions within the industry and energy sector in July 2022. It is also important to ensure skilled work force for the future in the building industry. That is why educating the next generation is an important part of MT Højgaard Danmark’s DNA. We therefore have a particular focus on having apprentices from different crafts and interns on the building of the new school.
