Sankt Kjelds Gård

Renovation of a large office building in operation

Sankt Kjelds Gård

Renovating public offices while in use

We placed great emphasis on ensuring that the renovation was as considerate as possible, as the building remained in full operation throughout the construction period. For example, noisy work was restricted to 7–9 AM and 4–6 PM to allow tenants to maintain a functional workday. Where noise restrictions impacted progress, we introduced staggered working hours or increased manpower.

Most of the areas were originally cellular offices and were renovated to become open-plan workspaces. The project included installation of new ventilation systems throughout the affected areas. The ground floor was transformed from traditional office space and a small reception into a shared meeting centre and a larger communal reception area.

Close dialogue with tenants and neighbours

We used location-based planning to coordinate the various tasks. Our site coordinator maintained ongoing communication with the building’s tenants, keeping them informed of the schedule and providing timely notifications of any changes. We also respected the proximity to neighbouring residential buildings in Østerbro, ensuring residents were kept informed about noise and traffic conditions.

Bright and shared office facilities
The facade renovation and window replacement have extended the building’s lifespan and improved user comfort. Today, the red-brick office building offers bright, modern and shared office facilities for 1,300 daily users.
