Rønne Harbour Phases 2, 3 and 4
Rønne Harbour is gradually being expanded with quays, ramps, breakwaters and dredging

Dredging and extension of the outer breakwater
Initially, we were selected as the contractor for Phase 2, where we dredged the southwestern basin, extended the outer breakwater by 450 metres and provided additional quay space. In total, we used 600,000 tonnes of stone for the extension, with some stones weighing up to 30 tonnes each. Most of the stones for the project were supplied by Bornholm quarries which reduced the environmental impact of transport and ensured additional local employment.
Both we and the client agreed that Phase 2 went as planned, making it natural for us to continue the collaboration on Phases 3 and 4.

Heavy local supplies
Rønne Harbour is located at the west side of Bornholm. That location makes the harbour very exposed to strong winds and big waves. To make sure that the harbour can withstand the tough weather we are building a sturdy jetty. We are using rocks that in total weigh 600,000 tons. Some of them weigh up to 30 tons alone.
The rocks are very heavy to transport. Luckily, we are able to use local supplies from Bornholm. The majority of the rocks for the project is supplied from stone quarries on Bornholm. That reduces the impact on the environment connected with transportation and it ensures local employment.
