Contribution to an effective utilisation of sustainable energy

Luckily, we are relying more and more on sustainable energy. We need a more flexible European energy system to ensure that energy from the sun and wind becomes a bigger part of the Danish electrical system. Viking Link is a contribution to that. MT Højgaard Danmmark is building the Danish converter station for Energinet. It will be located in Revsing and connected with the British station in Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire. The two converter stations and the 765 km submarine cables will transport electricity across the North Sea. Viking Link will be able to transport electricity corresponding to the consumption of 1.4 million homes.

Strong shell construction competencies put into play

Viking Link is an ambitious project, and MT Højgaard Danmark’s expertise within civil works is put into play. We are building the Danish converter station on a multi-trades contract where we are drawing on our strong experience with conducting shell constructions on datacentres, hospitals, universities, and housing.

The 15,500 m2 large project is comprised of a service building, a converter area, and two 22 m tall halls.
