Vildbjerg School
Vildbjerg School, located West of Herning, occupies approximately 11,600m2 and can accommodate around 700 pupils. Vildbjerg School is the first primary school in Denmark to be built in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). As a part of our involvement in Vildbjerg School we are now, in 2017, working on an integrated day care facility at the school. This is expected to be completed by 31 December this year.

PPP at Vildbjerg School
As a result of the school’s public-private partnership, the client, Herning local authority, receives a total package that comprises financing, the construction of the building itself and subsequent operation and maintenance. This solution ensures a high standard of construction, which ultimately has a positive impact on the well-being of both staff and pupils.

A PPP project like Vildbjerg school offers many benefits, not only for the local authority, but also for the school’s staff and pupils. The PPP model, however, also presents significant challenges in terms of management and overview. This meant that during the construction, MT Højgaard needed to establish a close relationship with the architect and engineers.
The school was built for Herning Municipality as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The school was constructed from maintenance-friendly materials.
30-year contract
The running of the school is a part of the PPP agreement, which places significant demands on the choice of materials, maintenance and replacements due to the fact that wear and tear, vandalism, broken windows, etc. have to be taken into account.
The building was constructed from maintenance-friendly materials able to withstand general wear and tear. MT Højgaard is responsible for the running of Vildbjerg School on a 30-year contract.
