We refurbish 456 homes for DAB

Consideration for residents

Grantofteparken’s 456 homes are spread across 24 courtyards with two-storey terraced houses, which we are renovating over a period of approximately two years. It is not easy but throughout the project, we at MT Højgaard Danmark are doing our utmost to help ensure that residents have the best possible experience.

Among other things, residents need to be rehoused for four days while environmental remediation work is carried out. Some residents have special needs, which we do everything we can to accommodate. One example was when we had to drill inside one of the flats where a dog was unsettled by the drilling. As an exception, we therefore allowed the dog to stay in our site cabin for the couple of hours our drilling and cutting workers were in the flat. Another example was a resident, a boy with special needs, who finds peace every day by touching a piece of wallpaper in the flat. For the four days he had to be rehoused, we therefore cut out a piece of wallpaper for him and stretched it across a plywood board.

Like beads on a string

All 456 rented homes in Ballerup will have new bathrooms and ventilation ducts. In addition, new windows will be installed and perimeter drains established.

The work is being carried out as a main contract, using our own skilled craftsmen from the carpentry and painting trades.

In agreement with the client, our craftsmen move systematically through the flats, with each craftsman completing his work in one day so that the next can move in the following day. This creates a “craftsman chain”, where they follow one another like beads on a string. In this way, we minimise downtime, and residents know exactly what to expect in their own flats.
